Crap Things

I need to go on FB marketplace

Crap Things

In Bed - Late at night — Friday 2nd Jan ‘26

This is one of our bedside tables. It’s an Ikea plant stand and it is terrible as a bedside table.

I have meant for months to get a new one off FB marketplace, but terrible as it is, it’s “good enough”.

A little bit of me likes how crap it is. As if being a bit crap is some noble goal for an object.

Crap things are fun though, they’re so much easier to love. No one wants everything to be perfect, or maybe some people do but they’re soulless.

Related to crap things, are broken things. We have a dirty spoon holder in the kitchen that Z broke at some point. It’s in two pieces and everytime I look at it I’m reminded of her and her quiet clumsiness (I am loud clumsy) (I think?)

My mum tried to shorten the curtains in my parents bedroom and did an awful job, so they don’t line up anymore. It has given them both endless entertainment over the years.

Crap = good (sometimes) Broken = good (if you’re in love with the person who did the breaking).

Small drawings of: a plant stand being used as a bedside table, curtains that don’t line up, and a broken dirty spoon plate thing
