We Are All One Big Mushroom

I had a thought last weekend while thinking about that big mushroom in the amazon (maybe?). Humans are, of course, one big network of little interconnected experiences.
The trees are involved too of course, but let’s stick to mushrooms for now. Anyway my thought was just “we are all one big mushroom”, sounds very first year stoner maaaaaaaaann, but what else are we? Tiny, atomised little blobs in a petri dish? NO. I refuse to accept that. I am the mushroom, you are the mushroom, we are the mushroom.
Now I have started saying this to myself regularly, “we’re just one big mushroom”. It cuts through any social anxiety, and seems to close the gap between me and the world. Its hard to feel anxious about talking to someone when really, they are just another little part of the same big fungus we call humanity.
Drawing of: A cross-section showing trees above ground connected by an underground big mushroom. Also a “NOT US” symbol showing a crossed-out petri dish.
